Bob Dylan has been a music pioneer for more than half a century. And not just in the music itself. His Bootleg Series was one of the first ongoing releases of its kind. Before Dylan, it was uncommon for an artist to package and release rare and alternate tracks from their vaults.
But few artists were being bootlegged as much as Bob Dylan. Thus, the Bootleg Series was a way for him to beat the bootleggers at their own game.
Recent releases in this series have been even more rewarding for Dylan fans. With UK laws essentially forcing older artists to release music from their vaults or else lose their Music Contract, fans have been blessed with access to more archival material than they may have thought possible.
The same is true for the next “bootleg” release. Trouble No More- The Bootleg Series Vol. 13 1979-1981 comes out November 3 and contains nine CDs and one DVD of previously unreleased material. The set focuses on Dylan’s gospel period, featured on the albums Slow Train Coming, Saved and Shot Of Love. As a bonus, fans that order the deluxe edition on Dylan’s website will also receive an exclusive 2CD live set from San Diego in 1979.
Also as usual, a 2CD set will be available at a more budget friendly price. The discs in that set will match the first two discs from the deluxe edition. Here is the complete track list:
