Pop Hits From The 80s Reimagined As Stephen King Horror Novels Are Perfection

If you came of age in the 1980s, it’s likely you have a strong affinity for the music and books that were part of the pop culture of that decade. You probably grew up listening to new wave bands and reading horror novels by Stephen King.

So, what would it be like if these things got mashed together? What would happen if you got your chocolate in my peanut butter, or I got my peanut butter in your chocolate? Two great tastes that taste great together, of course!

Artist Butcher Billy has explored pop culture mashups before, like reimagining David Bowie songs in Andy Warhol style, or new wave pop stars as comic book heroes. But his newest project may be his most audacious and cohesive yet.

This new collection takes a decade-spanning set of hit songs and reimagines them in book-cover form in the iconic style of the dog-eared Stephen King paperbacks so many of us have sitting on our bookshelves. It’s simply brilliant.

Jump over to Butcher Billy’s online gallery to see the full collection. You can even order prints, t-shirts, or perhaps most appropriately notebooks, featuring dark interpretations of the songs you know by heart. You already knew “Every Breath You Take” had sinister undertones, but “Careless Whisper”? Check out the Stephen King’s Stranger Love Songs collection and you’ll never hear 80s pop music the same again!
