When it comes to great 60s/70s throwback rock and roll, nobody does it better than Matthew Sweet. He’s created a signature sound that’s at once both all his own and of another era.
I’ve talked about his masterpiece, Girlfriend, and included it in my Great 28. It is truly one of my favorite albums.
Last year, Sweet released Tomorrow Forever, an album I ranked in the top ten of 2017. During the recording sessions for that album, Sweet actually wrote enough material for two albums. Hence, the companion album that has just been released: Tomorrow’s Daughter.
