Sometimes, a new artist comes along with a sound that jumps right out and demands my attention. Recently, that’s what happened with The Aces.
To be fair, it wasn’t that their sound was wildly original. It’s not. But it does call to mind the sound of two bands I like quite a lot: Haim and CHVRCHES. I also hear a strong Paramore vibe in there as well.
But The Aces are far from being a “rip-off” of any of those bands. Their debut album, When My Heart Felt Volcanic, is a refreshing burst of female-fronted pop with irresistible beats and melodies.
They’re definitely an Artist To Watch!
