The Beach Boys Open The Vaults For 1967 Collection

In the latter half of the 1960s, there was a rock and roll arms race going on between The Beatles and The Beach Boys. The grand culmination of the contest for studio supremacy was the release of two of the greatest albums of all time. Mad genius Brian Wilson crafted The Beach Boys masterpiece, Pet Sounds, in 1966. A year later, The Beatles game-changing Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was released.

Fifty years later, both acts are still competing with each other, only now it is in their efforts to plumb their vaults for unreleased material.

Last week, The Beatles unleashed an impressive box set highlighting remastered and unreleased Sgt. Pepper’s material. Not to be outdone, The Beach Boys have announced their own collection of studio rarities from that same year. 1967- Sunshine Tomorrow is a two disc set jam packed with remastered, unreleased and live material. The set is centered around the first ever stereo mix of The Beach Boys’ 1967 album, Wild Honey.

1967- Sunshine Tomorrow comes out on June 30. Here is the complete track list:
