How has Rick Rubin never worked with Billy Corgan or Smashing Pumpkins before? That just seems like an obviously perfect pairing! Look at the list of great acts Rubin has produced in the past: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, Metallica, Weezer, U2, Aerosmith, Beastie Boys, and so many more. And of course there is his incredible work on the late career revival of the legendary Johnny Cash.
On October 13, we’ll finally hear what magic Billy and Rick can conjure in the studio. Ogilala is the new Rubin-produced solo album by Billy Corgan… or William Patrick Corgan (WPC), as he seems to be branding himself for this release. The first single from the album is “Aeronaut”:
